Special Notes for Feis Attire

Below are attire guidelines for Shovlin Academy students planning to attend feiseanna. These are not official feis rules. However, we feel they are appropriate, common-sense policies that will lead our school in a healthy direction. We appreciate your cooperation.

About Hair
If you decide to go with a bun cover or wig, please choose a wig that suits your dancer (i.e., looks natural).

www.celticcurls.com offers a nice loose bun cover, "Alana."

Wearing hair securely off the face with a plain barrette or head band is also an option, i.e., half-ponytail.

About Makeup
No makeup should be worn on young ladies under 9.

Older dancers should keep make-up to a minimum and tasteful for their age.

Parade Attire

The dress code for everyone marching is as follows:

Shovlin Academy Warm Up Jacket
Sample sizes and orders forms will be available in January.

Solid White Turtle Neck
Kohls, Target, Wal-Mart or Sears as suggestions or other clothing retailers. Be sure to try the boys section of these stores as there may be a better supply there

Lime Green Headband & Mittens
Orders will be taken in January.

Pants
Dancers: Navy pants, e.g., school uniform or "sweat pants"

(no shiny or denim fabric or side stripes)

Shoes
Girls - White Tennis Shoes
Boys - Dark Shoes

Dress appropriately for the weather and wear many layers underneath your jacket/pants/mittens. The navy dance school logo t-shirt should be your lowest layer in case of warmer weather. We strongly suggest you purchase for your dancer throwaway hand warmers and foot warmers (found at Dick's Sporting Goods, Bed, Bath & Beyond, or hardware stores).
